Finally: A Neuropathy Treatment That Works

Are you a patient with diabetes that suffers with neuropathy? At Caring Podiatry, we have exciting news. We have a new treatment option available to our Middlesex and Monroe County patients that has an 80% success rate in treating neuropathy symptoms in patients with diabetes.

EPAT Therapy

Neuropathy can have several uncomfortable symptoms. You may experience:

  • Stabbing or shooting pain in your toes

  • Burning or tingling in your feet which may spread up your legs.

  • Numbness that causes balance and coordination problems

  • Unexpected discomfort from items touching your feet.

  • Pain in your feet and legs that wakes you up at night.

For many patients these symptoms are severe and have a debilitating effect on their daily lives. Not being able to walk for a significant distance, pain, fatigue caused by lack of sleep and never knowing when your symptoms will flare up can begin to limit the activities you have previously enjoyed. EPAT can help.

EPAT stands for Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology. It’s also known as Radial Shockwave Therapy. This therapy uses acoustic pressure waves targeted at damaged nerve tissue to improve circulation and stimulate the body’s own metabolic processes to speed healing. EPAT can encourage the formation of new stem cells. It also improves nerve conduction and inhibits inflammation.

Why Choose EPAT

EPAT is FDA approved and has many advantages over other traditional neuropathy treatments:

  • Non-invasive

  • No anesthesia required.

  • EPAT can be done in our Monroe office and takes about 15 minutes per session

  • Very minor side effects (mostly swelling or pain at the application site)

  • No down time

  • 80% of patients report substantial reduction of pain, burning and other symptoms of neuropathy after 3-5 treatment sessions

Diabetes is the number one cause of neuropathy in the United States. The American Diabetes Association estimates that 60-70% of people with diabetes will experience the discomfort of neuropathy. Don’t let neuropathy stop you from doing what you love. Contact our Monroe Township (609-860-9111) or our Neptune (732-455-8700) offices for an appointment. Our podiatrists, Andrew Schmierer, Craig Shapero, and Mark Fillari will get your medical history and do an evaluation of your condition to find out if EPAT is right for you.
